How To Move On After A Friend BreakUp

by Joanne Millares June 29, 2017 OMG

Breakups are the worst. They're sad, they suck, they're terrible. Ending a relationship with a person will ruin your system. You'll miss them and you'll look for them. But there's nothing tougher than breaking up with your best friend or friend. Losing your chica, is almost like losing your life partner. You lose your go-to person, your food buddy, and your closest person in the world.

If you're going through a friend breakup, here are way you can move on from it.

"There are friendships for a reason and others for a season."
Everything in life is there for a reason. Same with your friends, they are there for a reason. Some are there because they were meant to stay and maybe some are there to teach you a lesson. Even if you thought they were your ride or die, feelings change, people change, and maybe the circumstances changed them too. Just dwell with the good side that came out of your friendship.

Accept the mistakes
Acceptance is always key. You can only fully move on through acceptance. Yes, it may still hurt and you're still looking for someone to blame, but accepting that the friendship is really over will help you fully recover. Instead of blaming yourself or someone else, embrace the truth that it's done and learn from your mistakes. Notice that you'll be able to sleep well at night without a heavy heart when you do this.

Don't force a reconciliation
When we go through a breakup, there will always be that part of us that would want to reconcile with them. Reconciling is when you want your friendship to be restored. Don't force it. Respect each others space and wait. When you're both ready, you can talk about it.

Forgive
Holding grudges is like holding all that negativity in your chest. All the pain and the anger just stuck in your system and that isn't good for you. Don't overthink about it anymore. It already happened. It may not be your fault, but do your part and forgive. Let it go. It may not be fast or easy to do this but start doing it now and you'll feel better in due time.
